The serene Meson San Sebastian is midway between the Ermita and San Sebastian Parks. Both parks have colonial churches that anchor the neighborhoods at the south end of the historic center of Merida. This contemporary house, designed by John Prentice Powell has a very open and airy floor plan. There are modern fixtures and skylights in most of the rooms.  There is a large living room at the front of the house and a sitting room at the back where the large glass doors open onto the tropical garden.  There is a large water pond with lilies and lotus. In the corner is a fragrance garden of tuberose, various jasmines varieties, gardenia and lilies. The square pool has one deep side and a shallow beach for sunbathing or small children.  There is an open kitchen plan with a formal dining room that seats 12  and a smaller table for 6 in the kitchen.  The house has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.  The bedrooms are air conditioned.

This large house is filled with a eclectic mix of modern and antique furniture from rustic to baroque. Objects from the owners travels in Europe, Africa and Mexico. The walls are all burnished white plaster and most of the floors are polished white cement. When the house is not rented this is where we most often choose to have large parties or dinners.
